Urgent Philips Respironics Recall Message:
Philips Respironics announced a voluntary recall for Continuous and Non-Continuous Ventilators (certain CPAP, BiLevel PAP and Ventilator Devices) due to two issues related to the polyester-based polyurethane (PE-PUR) sound abatement foam used in these devices. - We’re still working to understand more about the situation, and we hope to learn more from Philips, the manufacturer, soon.
- While the decision to continue using or to stop using your CPAP while we wait on more information is up to you, the manufacturer has recommended to discontinue use of the device for the time being, so long as doing so doesn’t pose an immediate risk to your health.
- A few things to consider:
- If without using your machine, would you be concerned about your ability to drive or operate a motor vehicle safely?
- Would you be unsafe at work?
- In these cases, you may want to consider continuing use following some of the guidelines provided by Philips.
- Use an inline bacterial filter. Consult your Instructions for Use for guidance on installation.
- Don’t store the CPAP in high heat or high humidity environments
